Sharlene's Finishes Preparations at Missionary Training Center

Today and tomorrow (Saturday and Sunday) are Sharlene's last two days at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah.  During the two months Sharlene has been at the MTC, Sharlene has studied and worked very hard.  She has learned a lot about Japanese, about the gospel, about working with other missionaries, about working even when she is tired and about herself.  She is very anxious to get on the plane in Salt Lake City Monday morning which will take her to Seattle, where she will depart in the afternoon for a 12-hour flight to Osaka, Japan, where she will arrive on April 24th.  Osaka is one of three large cities--Osaka, Kyoto and Kobe--which are close together and which form a large metropolitan area with 18 million people, putting it in the top 10 metropolitan areas in the world.  Sharlene's mission home is in Kobe, which is on the coast.  There are a total of 30 million people within Sharlene's mission area.  The address of Sharlene's mission home where you can send her letters is:

Sister Alexandria Sharlene Rivers
Japan Kobe Mission
4-6-28 Shinoharahonmachi, Nada-ku,
Kobe-shi, Hyōgo
657-0067 JAPAN

Once we get word on her first assigned area, we will post the address for that.

Sister Rivers Set Apart

Sister Rivers was set apart as a full-time missionary to serve in the Japan Kobe mission last night February 20, 2012.  She was set apart by Stake President Bill Grayson at his home.  There with her were her mom and dad-Joel and Ginger Rivers, brother and sister-in-law Daniel and Mindy Rivers, nephew and neice-Tomas and Anna Rivers and granny--Etta Mai Conner.  Also there were Branch President Ray Griffin and his wife Becky, and friends Wayne and Doris Beasley.  The family got together afterward for some Mexican food in nearby Fairview, TN.
